Recently, several well-known models in the fashion industry have come together to combat the ubiquity of sexual abuse in their industry. Honestly, we could not feel more proud and empowered.

Cameron Russell, a well-known model, began sharing stories on her Instagram page of the horror stories that people anonymously shared with her. Her efforts have not only added to the wave of raising awareness for this extremely important issue, but have also caused other models to come forward.

Christy Turlington, one of the world’s most recognised supermodels, has dubbed the fashion industry as being “surrounded by predators”. Lily Aldridge also joined in on the conversation and shared a story of her own. She also accompanied this by writing, ” I stand in solidarity with the hundreds of brave voices breaking the silence.”

As such, Russell’s passionate and brave efforts have certainly not gone unnoticed. When asked about her campaign, she stated, “hearing about #harveyweinstein this week has sparked conversations about how widespread and how familiar his behavior is”. She has also started the #MyJobShouldNotIncludeAbuse movement.

Sexual assault is a very important issue that has, unfortunately, been taboo for far too long. This should no longer be the case.

We commend these women for stepping forward and supporting one another. In solidarity, we also welcome any suggestions for how you think Unprecedentedly Chic can assist.
