Google has a new virtual experience project, and we are loving it.
“We Wear culture: The Stories Behind What We Wear,” is a collaboration between Google and over 180 partner companies spanning across 42 countries. It is a digital exhibit that includes images for 30,000 artifacts, basically showcasing fashion over the years and across multiple cultures.
The director of Google Arts, Amit Sood says, “We invite everyone to browse the exhibition on their phones or laptops and learn about the stories behind what you wear [..] You might be surprised to find out that your Saree, jeans or the black dress in your wardrobe have a centuries-old story. What you wear is true culture and more often than not a piece of art.”
Since we often encourage our readers to shop local, knowing where you clothes came from and the meaning behind them is something we find great interest in! We’ll be sure to be following along. Will you?
